“Few films have endured the way Halloween has,” said Malek Akkad, CEO of Trancas International Films. “Nearly fifty years after its release, audiences still want to experience it together in a theatre, and new fans discover it every year. This is a fantastic celebration of an independent film that became a cornerstone of horror and continues to find its audience.”

He’s right. Halloween is one of those films that continues to find fans each year, and will do so for as long as we celebrate Halloween (forever). It marked a massive stepping stone in the evolution of the genre that we’ve come to know as the slasher movie. It established the unkillable masked madman who would become a hallmark of the genre. Everyone knows Michael Myers, The Shape, The Boogeyman, whatever you want to call him.
Hell, I’ll never forget seeing Halloween for the first time as a kid. Utter terror coursed through my veins as Michael stalked and slashed his way through Haddonfield, on his way to a heart-pounding final confrontation with Laurie Strode. By the time Dr. Loomis shot him six times, I knew I’d never be the same again. And I wasn’t. Halloween helped make me the horror fan I am today, and I’m forever grateful.
Halloween comes home to theaters from October 24th-November 1st. Check your local times to see if it’s playing near you. And happy Halloween season!
