Shudder Acquires Geological Horror ‘Split Rock’ from ‘The Strings’ Director
Shudder has acquired geological horror film ‘Split Rock’, the follow up to Ryan Glover’s ‘The Strings’, and it sounds pretty intriguing.

Shudder has announced that they’ve acquired the rights to Split Rock, the sophomore supernatural horror feature from writer and director Ryan Glover (The Strings).
Shot on 16mm, the film follows geologists Lauren and Ben as they investigate a strange anomaly discovered deep within the remote badlands. After unearthing an ancient force hidden in the hills, the couple and their team must face a series of ever-intensifying horrors.
The film stars Clark Backo (AMC+’s Yaga), Drew Ray Tanner (Netflix’s Riverdale), Olivia Luccardi (It Follows) and Graham Verchere (Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher).
Producers are Brian Robertson of Low End (V/H/S/Beyond), Jefferson Moneo of Prowler Pictures (Flapjax) and Krista Dzialoszynski of Observer Effect (The Strings). Executive producers are Ryan Glover, Kate Melville, Fabiola Caraza, Patrick Hackett and Daniel Futa.
“I am very excited and thankful to be teaming up with Shudder again for the release of Split Rock, my bloodier, and far more ambitious second film,” said director Ryan Glover. “Shudder is home to the most passionate genre audience in the world, and I can’t wait for them to unearth the horrors and tragedies of Split Rock later this year.”
Bloodier, you say? I’m in. I dug Glover’s The Strings, so count me in for his gorier dive deep down into the depths of an ancient evil.
“With Split Rock, Ryan Glover has delivered a meticulously crafted world of psychological tension and haunting performances from its intimate cast. We can’t wait to share this unsettling tale with Shudder audiences,” added Emily Gotto, Shudder’s SVP of Acquisitions & Productions.
The film will debut at the 59th Sitges Film Festival on Oct. 9th and will celebrate its North American Premiere at Brooklyn Horror Film Festival on Oct. 21st before its Shudder release on December 25th.
