5 Halloween Costume Ideas That Aren’t Nikki From ‘Obsession’

This one is for my lazy girls who really can’t be bothered to do anything elaborate this year and for the girls who want to be sexy but don’t want to dress as some anthropomorphized animal. Erin’s outfit is super simple and can easily be recreated with your favorite little white tank, low-rise flare jeans, and the cowboy hat you bought specifically to go line dancing at the country bar in FiDi “as a bit.”
But to really pull this look together, you’ll need to really pack on the bronzer. Pack a bottle of Evian in your bag to spritz your face and body throughout the night to look sweaty and you’re good to go.

So you want to be an unhinged woman. That’s great! This list is full of them. But none of them are as sharply dressed as Asami, the former ballerina turned torturer in Takashi Miike’s 1999 film, Audition.
What I love most about Asami’s costume is how kinky it is despite it being ostensibly modest, which is fun for Halloween. Pair a pleated A-line skirt with a white blouse, knee-high black boots (the more utilitarian, the better), a leather apron, and gloves. Bonus points if you keep a plastic syringe in your pocket.

This costume is fun because there are so many versions of Anna you can dress up as, and each one will be distinctive and easily recognizable to those who love movies that make you feel really, really bad (myself included). I dressed up as Anna last year, and I can tell you from experience, this is a very easy and affordable costume to recreate. Go to your local thrift, and you’ll find tons of dresses identical to Anna’s, along with a pair of ankle boots or kitten heels and oversized sunglasses.
From here, it’s a choose-your-own-adventure situation. Do you want to carry a mesh net bag full of groceries? Cradle a bottle of wine? Wrap your neck with medical gauze? Fake blood? No blood? Whatever you choose, it’ll probably look better than whatever is going on in the costume department for the remake.

Can somebody please tell me why I didn’t see more girls dressed as Iris in 2025? I know Companion wasn’t for everyone, but I was sure the girls who “got it” would be outside dressed as the kind-hearted robot girlfriend for Halloween that year.
Perhaps this is the year Iris will get her Maxine Mink moment. Like the other costumes on this list, you can thrift most of these pieces easily or recreate using what’s already in your closet. But if you want to take this up a notch, you can splatter your blouse with fake blood, recreate her robot hand, or, if you’re up to it, wear a pair of white contacts.

The majority of Forbidden Fruits takes place in Free Eden, a Free People knock off run by Cherry, Fig, and Apple, a coven of witches who really know how to dress. If you’re looking for a group costume this year, then this might be the perfect option, especially because I doubt anyone else would have even thought of this one. Forbidden Fruits is underrated and underseen, I said what I said!
What I love most is that almost all of the pieces the girls wear in the film are easy to find at the mall or on Depop. Be sure to carry coordinating Stanley cups and you might just convince everyone to stream it on Shudder. I know I’ve been trying.

At the time of writing this I had just started watching Widow’s Bay and by the end of the first season, I knew I had to include Patricia in this roundup.
If you’ve seen the show, you might be thinking I’m going to suggest you dress as Patricia at her ill-fated Sunset Cocktails event, but I have a feeling much like Nikki, everyone will be wearing a taxidermy headpiece and floral dress for Halloween this year. So instead, why not dress as Patricia during her showdown with the Boogeyman?
All you’ll need is an oversized pink T-shirt, green running shorts, and a pair of sock booties (but Uggs might be the better move if you’re bouncing party to party). I know tasers are legal in most states, but all I’m going to say is that if you can make a fake one, that’s probably the right move.
