Another short has arrived as part of Sam’s The Soul of Halloween celebration, and this time Trent Shy is bringing his wonderfully twisted claymation to the party.
Running under a minute, Pumpkin Girl comes with a pretty great warning: “You spend all October carving their faces. Is it really so surprising when they come for yours?”
Shy makes all sorts of fun stop-motion nightmares, and this is another wicked little treat to help count down the days until Halloween.
Watch Pumpkin Girl below, and check out more of Trent Shy’s work.
As we detailed in our launch coverage, the Trick ’r Treat filmmaker has invited artists and filmmakers to interpret Sam in their own styles through new shorts, artwork, and collaborations. The celebration also marks 30 years since the character first appeared in Dougherty’s animated short Season’s Greetings.
We kicked things off with the first short, featuring Sam in a graveyard as ghosts rose around him. Now we get this gorgeous orange haze and a quiet moment with Halloween’s favorite little guardian.
