Take a look. What do you think? Is that her?
If it is Regan, that would give us another connection to the original The Exorcist, alongside the apparent ties to The Exorcist III. It could also suggest a personal history between these characters that goes beyond displaying a familiar face on a shelf.
And those aren’t the only photographs worth examining. Several other framed pictures appear in the trailer, including what looks like a family gathering around a table, a woman in white, and a man dressed in dark clothing. The images are incredibly difficult to make out, but considering the apparent connections to The Exorcist and The Exorcist III, it’s worth wondering whether these are simply family photographs or additional Easter eggs hiding in plain sight. Could there be even more familiar faces tucked away in these frames?
Naturally, that leads to the bigger question: could Blair actually appear in the movie?
A photograph wouldn’t confirm a new appearance, but it would certainly get that conversation going. And do we even need to see Regan again, or would a little detail like this be enough? I like the idea of these movies sharing a history while Flanagan gets to tell his own story.
For now, the identity of the woman in the photograph and the meaning remains speculation. The Kinderman clues are compelling, but they don’t establish how Martyrs connects to every previous installment.
Universal Pictures releases The Exorcist: Martyrs on March 12, 2027. In the meantime, apparently we have some more shelves to inspect.
