Ahead of the series premiere, A24 has released a clip of Jason’s tragic drowning scene from ‘Crystal Lake’.
He’s still down there. Waiting…
Ahead of the premiere of Crystal Lake, the Friday the 13th prequel series, A24 has released a clip of one of the most infamous moments in the franchise’s legacy…the drowning of Jason Voorhees.
In the clip below, we witness young Jason (Callum Vinson) drown in Crystal Lake while the camp counselors are supposed to be watching. His mother, Pamela (Linda Cardellini), runs out to save him. But, as we all know, she’s far too late.
The scene gives a good taste of what’s to come in the series. Before Crystal Lake, all fans knew was that Jason had drowned. The series reveals that Pamela was actually present during the drowning, making it all the more heartbreaking. You can feel that in Linda’s performance: the utter terror of a mother who has just lost her child.
A terror that transforms into something monstrous.

All eight episodes premiere this Thursday, October 15, on Peacock.
From creator, writer, and showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry), the Friday the 13th prequel follows Pamela almost a year after Jason’s drowning. Still consumed by grief, she receives a visit from two strangers digging into her past, setting off disturbing events throughout the town.
In his review of the series for Dread, Daniel Kurland describes as a “bloody, heartbreaking reinvention of a slasher classic”.
