Ruby Modine is celebrating Halloween with a heavy rendition of the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black,” and her new music video comes complete with fangs.
You might know Modine from the Happy Death Day films or my Silent Night, Deadly Night remake with Mike P. Nelson, but she’s also a musician. Her take on the classic has some bite, and I’d imagine Poppy fans will find plenty to enjoy here.
Directed by Tom Flynn, the video features Modine in various dark costumes before fully embracing horror, transforming her into a vampire mistress covered in blood. It’s a fun ode to the holiday from one of our very own.
Music has been part of Modine’s creative life for years. As her official biography explains, she’s a singer, songwriter, and music producer who records between screen projects. This track was produced, mixed, and mastered by Randy Pasquarella.
There’s also a fun family connection to her horror work: her father, Matthew Modine, starred in Nelson’s Wrong Turn before Ruby joined us for Silent Night, Deadly Night.
And she’s keeping busy on the movie side. As we previously reported, Modine also stars alongside Richard Harmon (Final Destination Bloodlines) in the ’80s-set horror film A Most Delightful Game, directed by her brother, Boman Modine.
For now, enjoy a little Halloween bloodletting above.
