We are devastated to learn that Jeremiah Kipp, director of ‘The Mortuary Assistant’ and ‘Slapface’, has passed away.
Awful news this afternoon: we’ve learned that Jeremiah Kipp (The Mortuary Assistant, Slapface) has passed away.
At this time, we do not have any details on his Kipp’s passing.
The Long Island International Film Expo posted the news in the following statement: “According to Lindsay Katt, his life partner of seven years, filmmaker Jeremiah Kipp has left this plane of existence on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at approximately 3 AM. Jeremiah was a talented filmmaker and a Scared for Your LIIFE and LIIFE alumnus. We honored him in 2020 at our virtual awards ceremony during Covid with a Creative Achievement Award. Jeremiah was a gentle soul who was always generous with advice and sharing his knowledge of cinema, and he leaves behind many friends and an important legacy of works.”
Some of those works include numerous short films before making his feature horror debut with The Sadist. His film Slapface, based on his short of the same name, debuted on Shudder in 2021. He then went on to direct The Mortuary Assistant, an adaptation of the popular Dread XP video game, as well as Faceless.
The filmmaker was in pre-production on The Housewife, starring Devon Sawa (Chucky).
Our hearts go out to Kipp’s friends and family. He will be missed.
