This one has been cooking for a long time. Johannes Roberts’ Thirteen O’Clock, a horror project he was discussing before 47 Meters Down: Uncaged even went into production, appears to be moving toward filming next year.
According to an updated Production List entry, the film is now listed as 13 O’Clock, with the alternate title Tomas, and is in casting and preproduction with Regency Enterprises attached.
The site reports a shoot in Colombia in early 2027. Roberts directs and co-writes with longtime collaborator Ernest Riera, with James Harris listed as executive producer.
The listed premise follows a former DEA agent in Mexico who is haunted by accidentally killing a little girl. He offers a young woman and her younger brother, both fleeing the police, a chance to start over in the United States. First, however, they must do something for him that takes them on a terrifying journey beyond death.
Back in February 2018, Roberts teased the project in an interview with Bloody Disgusting:
“It’s all set during Day of the Dead and it involves coffins and being buried alive.”
At the time, Roberts described a story that would travel across Los Angeles and planned to make it before his 47 Meters Down sequel. Clearly, that order changed. The screenplay’s history stretches back even further, appearing on the 2016 Brit List with a premise involving siblings on the run and an offer to spend an hour inside a buried coffin with a corpse. How much of those earlier ideas survives remains to be seen.
Of course, Roberts has already shown us how fucking terrifying being buried alive can be. His “Suicide Bid” segment in my follows a young woman whose sorority initiation involves spending the night inside a coffin underground. It’s a nasty little nightmare, so this is certainly familiar territory for the filmmaker.
