Lionsgate has released a trailer for ‘Above the Below’, Idris Elba’s sci-fi thriller that puts the actor in a fight for his life.
Can you face the improbability of your own survival?
That’s the ultimate question asked by star Idris Elba (Prometheus) in the new trailer for the sci-fi survival thriller Above the Below.
Here’s the official synopsis: After three astronauts survive a disaster in space, their unscheduled crash-landing leaves them trapped in the crushing depths of the ocean with no contact with mission control and oxygen rapidly running out. In a race against time where every breath could be their last, the crew faces impossible choices, mounting odds, and new dangers in this pulse-pounding story about what we do when faced with the greatest stakes imaginable.
I don’t know about you, but I could listen to Elba narrate trailers all day.
Even without that, I’m digging the look of this. The trailer has a unique style to it and promises an intense thrill ride in space. I’m not all that familiar with Elba’s work as a director, but the actor is one of those who never fails to captivate the screen, so I’m along for the ride either way. Can’t say I love the title, though.
The film marks one of a handful of upcoming projects directed by Elba. He co-directed with Martin Owen from a script by Elizabeth Morris, Matthew Mitchell, and Vicki Sargent.
Caitlin FitzGerald (Succession) and Hero Fiennes Tiffin (The Woman King) also star.
Above the Below lands in theaters on December 4th via Lionsgate.
