‘Treehouse of Horror XXXVII’ Images Bring ‘Hereditary’ and ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ to Springfield

Dread Central has a first look at new images from The Simpsons’ “Treehouse of Horror XXXVII,” airing this Sunday, October 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

This year’s Halloween celebration includes a nod to Ari Aster’s Hereditary, alongside a stop-motion opening inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas.

We previously shared Fox’s Halloween mailer and artwork, but now we get a look at the episode itself. It’s just so fun seeing Bart as Jack Skellington and Santa’s Little Helper as Zero, bringing Springfield into the world of Tim Burton and director Henry Selick’s Halloween classic. The opening comes from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the team behind Robot Chicken.

Beyond the opening, the episode gives Marge some frightening marital problems, sends Bart and Santa’s Little Helper on a disturbing adventure, and puts Homer through a terrifying driving lesson. Previously revealed inspirations include Holly Gramazio’s novel The Husbands and a combination of Freaky Friday and Pet Sematary. Now these new images add Hereditary to the fun.

This follows Sunday’s “Treehouse of Horror Presents: The Revengening,” which unleashed a killer on Springfield for an extra helping of Halloween mayhem. Check out the rest of the images below while we wait for this weekend’s main event.
