David Arquette, Mena Suvari and more have joined the domestic horror film ‘Homesick’, which is giving slight ‘Housemaid’ vibes.
Home is where the horror is.
Genre heavyweight David Arquette (pictured above in Scream 2022), Mena Suvari (American Beauty), Belle Shouse (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), and Alberto Rosende (Chicago Fire) have joined the domestic horror flick Homesick, reports Deadline.
Based on the premise, I’m getting slight Housemaid vibes.
The film “revolves around Suvari’s Dr. Abby Morrison, a compassionate physician whose carefully built life conceals a secret she has never shared with her husband. With their daughter away at college, Abby and husband Gordy (Arquette) are settling into life as empty nesters when the arrival of a mysterious young woman (Shouse) shatters their sense of safety. As an unsettling encounter spirals into a nightmare, the couple must fight to protect each other in a home they can no longer trust.
Todd Slavkin (Smallville) directs from a script by Darren Swimmer (Coven Academy).
Mena Suvari in Vampires of the Velvet Lounge
I don’t think there’s a horror fan alive who doesn’t adore Arquette for his portrayal as Dewey in the Scream franchise. Pairing him with American Pie‘s Suvari as a married couple up against a potential homewrecker (or worse) just sounds like a fun time.
Hailing from Evoke Entertainment and Freefall Films, producers are Stan Spry, Henry Boger and Anthony Fankhauser. Jeff Holland, Geoff Silverman, Slavkin and Swimmer will executive produce, with Pam Mitchell as co-producer.
Homesick goes into production in Winnipeg tomorrow, October 21st.
