The new Blair Witch comes from Lionsgate and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Chris Devlin writing the screenplay and Jason Blum and Roy Lee producing. Original The Blair Witch Project stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams are already attached as executive producers, alongside original filmmakers Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, and Gregg Hale.
I’ve also heard rumblings about the original cast’s involvement, although there’s no confirmed onscreen return to report. For now, this sounds like a really exciting new Blair Witch. A family heading into the woods for something deeply personal, only to encounter something they can’t explain, feels like they’re bringing it back toward the first movie again. And that’s encouraging.
Lionsgate previously announced a September 24, 2027, theatrical release.
