It’s been long enough that we can start digging into even more of the big reveals in Crystal Lake, the Friday the 13th prequel series now streaming in full on Peacock. And this is the big one: Pamela Voorhees finally coming face to face with her boy.
Major spoilers for the season finale follow.
We all know the story. Jason drowned in the lake while the camp counselors were busy attending to their own needs. Wink, wink. But Crystal Lake takes that familiar history and sends it down a different path, almost like Doc Brown drawing out an alternate timeline in Back to the Future Part II.
This time, Pamela, played by Linda Cardellini, hears whispers of a boy in the woods and believes in her heart that her son is still with us. He never came home. Instead, he remains hidden in the woods, growing at an alarming rate as the series ties his transformation to his father Elias’s (Hamish Linklater) experiments and the corporation behind them.
It all comes together when Elias confronts Pamela at the cabin, only for Jason (Jonathan Tison) to appear behind him in the doorway, a sack covering his face. We’ve already shared the official Baghead Jason photos, but seeing that moment play out is something else.

What makes this work isn’t simply the arrival of Baghead Jason. It’s how attached people have become to the little boy we met in the first episode.
Callum Vinson (Chucky) and Cardellini spend those early scenes building a bond right in front of us. There’s playfulness, affection, and Jason curling up in his mother’s arms. We’ve spent decades celebrating the killer, and suddenly people are falling in love with the kid.
