For Simon, bringing this story back to the screen meant dealing with its sensitive subject matter while keeping Doris at the center.
“It’s a touchy subject,” he explains. “We really wanted to tell the story from Doris’s point of view and have it be about believing this woman.”
He also reveals that the film was shot in just 16 days on a very low budget. Having seen what they accomplished, that’s pretty incredible. Simon separately confirmed the schedule in his interview with Mama’s Geeky, discussing the challenge of recreating the 1970s with limited time and resources.
Heather Graham (Suitable Flesh) stars as Doris, a single mother whose encounters with an unseen force grow increasingly violent, drawing investigators into her home. Mimi Rogers (The Rapture, Ginger Snaps) also stars, with a screenplay by Thomas Fenton.
We previously shared a creepy clip featuring Graham discovering a possible visitor under the bed. Give that a watch for a taste of the movie. This was one of my Fantastic Fest favorites, and I’m excited for more people to see it.
