A Family Faces a Sadistic Demon in Techno-Horror Film ‘Modem’
AMP has boarded worldwide sales for ‘Modem’, a techno-horror film involving a sadistic demon terrorizing a family.

If you think old modems are scary, just wait until you discover one with a demon inside it.
That’s the basic setup for the upcoming techno-horror film Modem. Deadline reports that AMP (Alliance Media Partners) just boarded worldwide sales for the film ahead of AFM.
Here’s the synopsis according to the outlet: “The picture unfolds against the backdrop of a family digital detox vacation in a house in a Swedish forest which takes a terrifying turn when a teenager discovers an old modem and unwittingly awakens a dormant, sadistic demon when it is fired up.
The sinister presence torments the family, and when their two-year-old suddenly vanishes, fear spirals into hysteria and paranoia as the family confronts a terrifying force that has turned their connected world against them.”
I’ve always been pretty tech-averse. Modem is my nightmare incarnate. It arrives at a time when audiences are becoming more and more paranoid about their devices, with A.I. and all sorts of bad actors roaming the digital space.
Josh Burdett, Amanda Renberg, Nika Tallroth, Frederik Gunnarsson, Ylva Loof, and Henrik Lundstrom star.
Tim James Brown makes his feature directorial debut with Modem, which he also wrote.
Said Brown, “What makes Modem so intense is that it plays on the paranoia of technology – a paranormal stalker voyeuristically preying on its victims through their own digital devices. You can’t see it – it sees you.”
That quote is why I threw my Alexa in the trash. I don’t need hackers…or demons…spying on me through any unnecessary tech. I already get that with my phone and laptop.
Modem is set to make its market debut at AFM.
