ScreenDaily shares the first image from The Temple, an interesting new horror film that follows a man who finds out his parents are trapped in hell.
Canadian filmmaking duo Calvin Thomas and Yonah Lewis have directed the English-language film about an orphaned millionaire who believes he has found the ghosts of his dead parents in an abandoned church and enlists a radiation scientist to help him communicate with them.
However, he discovers his parents are trapped in hell and desperate to return to the world of the living.
Starring Daniel Zolghadri (Y2K, American Horror Stories) and Cory Michael Smith (Utopia), The Temple has been acquired for international sales by Paris-based WTFilms, who will be launching the film at the American Film Market (AFM) later this month.
The cast also includes Danish actress Vic Carmen Sonne (The Girl With The Needle) and Canada’s Tamara Podemski.
The film is now in post after a shoot in Canada.
The Temple marks the fifth feature from Thomas and Lewis, whose previous credits include White Lie and The Oxbow Cure. They co-wrote the screenplay with Lev Lewis, who is also the film’s editor and composer.
The film is produced by Canada’s Babe Nation Films and Lisa Pictures. Elevation Pictures is handling the Canadian release.
WTFilms’ AFM slate also includes David Sarrio’s French-language sci-fi horror Quantic, about a group of science students trapped overnight with a deadly entity unleashed during an illegal experiment. ESC Distribution has French rights.
