‘River’: Jane Levy and Jessica Rothe Pedal for Their Lives in New Image

Jane Levy (Evil Dead) and Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) are trying to outrun a bloodied killer in ScreenRant’s exclusive new look at River, and this one has serious Texas Chain Saw Massacre vibes.

The image finds the pair escaping on a bicycle, pedaling as fast as they can with the psycho chasing after them. Check it out below.

Written and directed by Joshua Giuliano, River follows three estranged siblings who reunite to scatter their father’s ashes along a remote river. When their boat breaks down, they find themselves stranded and stalked by a faceless killer. Max Mattern plays their younger brother, while Dane DiLiegro (Prey) plays the killer.

Our own Matt Konopka made a similar comparison in his TIFF review: “River’s like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre if it were run through a French Extremity filter.” While he had reservations about the tonal shifts, he praised the performances and Giuliano’s ability to build dread.

Universal Pictures releases River in theaters January 15, 2027. Revisit the trailer for more of its backwoods nightmare.
