We all love Gale Weathers and Dewey, but Campbell is the face and star of the Scream franchise. After the negotiations that led her to sit out Scream VI before returning for Scream 7, it’s great to hear that she’s coming back again.
Now we can move on to being excited about who might get behind the camera. Kevin Williamson has already said he won’t return to direct, while Courteney Cox has expressed interest in the job. Neither that interest nor the names circulating on social media amount to an announcement.
On the writing side, Dread Central previously reported that Lilla Zuckerman and Nora Zuckerman were attached to pen the screenplay. Any new claims about changes to the writing team remain unconfirmed. We’ll wait for Spyglass to announce its plans when it’s ready.
Wes Craven directed the first four films, starring Campbell, Cox and , which earned approximately $173 million, $172 million, $162 million and $96 million worldwide, respectively. Radio Silence’s and took over for (2022) and , with and leading the new cast. Those films brought in $139 million and $169 million worldwide.
