5.2 Million Watched ‘Obsession’ Star Inde Navarrette Host ‘SNL’ on Halloween

Booking Inde Navarrette to host Saturday Night Live on Halloween was a genius move, and it paid off. The Obsession star drew 5.2 million viewers on NBC for her October 31 hosting debut with musical guest Gracie Abrams, making it the most-watched SNL episode of the season so far.

The number that got me was 325 million. That’s how many views the episode’s clips had racked up across social media by Tuesday morning, according to TheWrap’s ratings report. The broadcast also drew the show’s biggest audience among adults 18–49 in nearly two years.

What a fucking year for Navarrette. Curry Barker’s Obsession made her a star practically overnight, and within months she’d landed Rogue in Marvel’s X-Men.

If you missed Saturday’s show, start with the monologue. Navarrette tells the audience she’s nothing like Nikki from Obsession. Her boyfriend, Nick Aiello, is right there in the audience to back her up, except somebody’s tied him to his chair and taped his mouth shut.

For the horror crowd, the short to watch is “The Inventor’s Wife.” Navarrette plays a widow who discovers a little robot called PD-44 in her late husband’s basement. Then she starts dating again. I’ll leave what the initials stand for to SNL writer Dan Bulla, who takes this one somewhere bloody.
