Paranormal Activity is back on the Halloween calendar. Paramount has moved the new Blumhouse-Atomic Monster movie from May 21 to October 22, 2027.
The part I’m most excited about is where they’re putting the cameras. Blumhouse revealed at New York Comic Con that the eighth film takes place in the house from Oren Peli’s original. I spent so much of that movie staring past Katie and Micah’s bed into the dark hallway that I could probably still tell you exactly how far that door moved. Now somebody else gets to sleep there.
Ian Tuason, who made the sound of an empty house scary as hell in undertone, is directing. When Dread Central asked him why that film landed him the gig, Tuason had a pretty good answer. “Oh, because I scared people without showing them anything,” he said, before admitting just how much he owed Paranormal Activity. “I kind of stole from it. I stole from it. And now I’m giving back.”
The cast includes Chase Yi (Mythic Quest), Sonia Mena (Tell Me Lies) and Maya da Costa (Girls Like Girls). James Wan, Jason Blum and Peli are producing.
