Ben Leonberg, director of ‘Good Boy’, is set to direct a feature adaptation of the horror novella, ‘Look Out’.
Look Out.
No, there’s nothing behind you (at least, not that I know of). That’s the title of the horror novella set for a feature adaptation by Ben Leonberg (Good Boy), reports Variety.
Leonberg will write the script with Good Boy co-writer Alex Cannon.
We don’t have any plot details at the time, but Deadline notes this is the logline for the novella by Dan Baillie: “Look Out follows Oscar. Recuperating from a divorce, he takes a job as a fire lookout at a remote forest outpost, where he discovers a paper inscribed with a strange set of rules that promise to keep him safe during his watch.”
Republic Pictures is behind the project. Roy Lee and Andrew Childs will produce for Vertigo Entertainment, and Zach Studin will produce for Artists Writers and Artisans, both of which the novella hails from.
Look Out marks the latest horror project that Ben Leonberg is getting behind the camera for. We recently reported on Leonberg’s serial killer movie Follow Mode, as well as his boogeyman pic, Ankle Snatcher.
It’s no wonder the filmmaker is such a hot name right now. While his debut, Good Boy, may not have been perfect, the tale of a dog protecting its owner from a ghost (shot entirely through the dog’s perspective) endeared itself to genre fans everywhere. It’s innovative, creepy, heartbreaking, and showcases a filmmaker who is just getting started.
Stay tuned to Dread as we keep a look out (heh) for more details.
