Terror Vision has released the trailer for ‘Spirit Tasting’, the New Year’s Eve horror pic from ‘WNUF’ director Chris LaMartina.
“This is one of the most uncomfortable holidays I have ever had.“
Terror Vision has released the quirky trailer for Spirit Tasting, the New Year’s Eve horror/comedy from WNUF Halloween Special filmmaker Chris LaMartina.
A Terror Vision Original Production in conjunction with Massive Failure, Spirit Tasting is directed and edited by LaMartina from a screenplay he wrote with Michael Varrati, writer and director of the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.
A post-punk riff on The Monkey’s Paw, the film follows three former punks (Sean Doherty, Melissa LaMartina, and Trevor Wilhelms) as they toast their late bandmate at a distillery on New Year’s Eve.
When a strange sommelier (Matt Lake) invites them to a top-shelf tasting, they discover there’s only one catch: Every bottle requires a “wish.”
But as each of their desires twists into doom, these old friends discover that every pour at the Red Bat Distillery comes at a deadly price.
While I’m definitely missing the old-school vibe that LaMartina brought to WNUF, this still looks like a fun horror pic to add to your New Year’s Eve watchlist.
As we previously reported, LaMartina is bringing his latest holiday horror film on the road. Spirit Tasting world premieres at Baltimore’s Senator Theatre on November 12 before touring the United States into January, with the filmmaker and select cast members appearing at each screening for introductions and Q&As.
LaMartina shot the film in just four days for $40,000 to celebrate his 40th birthday, inspired by Roger Corman’s famously speedy productions. A Blu-ray release is also planned alongside the tour, with bonus features including a feature-length making-of documentary.
Matt Baughman, Cate Paris, and Tatiana Nya Ford also star, with cameos from Grady Hendrix, Clay McLeod Chapman, Peaches Christ, and Henry Zebrowski. Producers are Melissa LaMartina, Chris LaMartina, Michael Varrati, and Ted Geoghegan, with Ryan Graveface executive producing.
