With a post to his official Instagram account tonight, Scream 7 director Kevin Williamson has announced that filming on the franchise’s new installment is currently underway.
Williamson, who of course wrote the original Scream for Wes Craven and now finds himself in the Scream director’s chair for the very first time, writes on Instagram tonight:
“I’m not supposed to post about Scream and I hope Spyglass and Paramount will forgive me but when you have one of the best days of your life it’s really hard to keep it to yourself. What an extraordinary day I had working with an amazing and talented cast and crew. They brought their “A” game and had my back every step of the way. I’m so very grateful for this opportunity and to Wes Craven who was on my mind through it all. The profound impact he has had on my life and career is endless. What a day! I can’t wait for tomorrow!”

Neve Campbell will be returning to the franchise as Sidney Prescott after sitting out the previous film in the saga, while Courteney Cox is also coming back as Gale Weathers.
The announced cast for Scream 7 thus far also includes Mason Gooding as returning character Chad Meeks-Martin plus fresh franchise faces Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Sam Rechner (The Fabelmans), Asa Germann (“The Boys”), Anna Camp (“Hysteria!) and Isabel May (“1883”).
One thing we do know is that Isabel May is playing Sidney Prescott’s daughter, with the upcoming sequel expected to largely bring the focus back onto Sidney and her family.
The seventh installment will slash into theaters on February 27, 2026.
