Don’t you just hate it when Grandma comes back from the dead and disrupts Christmas dinner with her insatiable thirst for blood? Hey, it’s not just me, as that’s the set-up for Unholy Night, which just debuted a new teaser and stills ahead of its world premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival.
Gino’s traditional family Christmas Eve turns into a bloody battle for survival when his long-dead grandma drops by and goes on a murderous rampage. Amid the chaos, Gino reunites with his ex, and the dysfunctional duo must avoid his dead Italian relatives popping up all around the neighbourhood as they search for a way to get rid of these Yuletide revenants and survive his family Christmas.
Marc Bendavid (Dark Matter, Reacher) and Shailene Garnett (Fire Country, Diggstown) star, with supporting performances from Al Sapienza (The Sopranos, House of Cards), Ron Lea (The Recruit, Orphan Black), Ton Ellwand (Mafia Inc.), Cristina Rosato (Mother!, Assassin’s Creed), Jaqueline Robbins (The Monkey) and Joe Pingue (Station Eleven, Star Trek: Section 31).
The film marks the feature debut of writer/director Michael Gabriele.
Following its Fantasia premiere, Game Theory Films will bring Unholy Night to Canadian theaters this holiday season and is seeking distribution in other territories.
