The Lipstick-Face Demon Returns on New ‘Insidious: Out of the Further’ Poster; New Trailer Arrives Tomorrow!

The marketing campaign for Insidious: Out of the Further just raised the stakes in a big way.

A chilling new poster for the upcoming sixth installment in the Insidious franchise has been released, and longtime fans are going to recognize the sinister figure lurking in the shadows almost immediately. Front and center is none other than the Lipstick-Face Demon—the red-faced fiend who first terrorized audiences in James Wan’s original Insidious back in 2010.

In addition, Sony also shares an entire series of character posters for Insidious: Out of the Further that spotlight other of the franchise’s most recognizable entities from across the series. The lineup also includes the Bride in Black (Parker Crane) from Insidious: Chapter 2, the Man Who Can’t Breathe (Wheezing Demon) from Insidious: Chapter 3, KeyFace from Insidious: The Last Key, and the sinister Long-Haired Fiend, who was first introduced in Insidious: The Red Door.

Those reveals feel like much more than simple fan service.

Ever since the first trailer dropped earlier this year, it has looked as though Out of the Further is building toward something much larger than another standalone haunting. Dread Central previously noted that the film appears to bring together many of the franchise’s most terrifying entities, with demons escaping the Further and invading the real world in what feels like the closest thing Insidious has ever had to an “Avengers” moment.

This latest posters only reinforces that idea.

Bringing back the Lipstick-Face Demon – the unmistakable villain who helped define the original film (played by Joseph Bishara) – is a strong indication that Out of the Further is embracing the franchise’s history while unleashing its greatest nightmares all at once.
