Gabrielle Union Battles Vampires In ‘Casket Girls’

Aura Entertainment has acquired US rights to the Gabrielle Union (Breaking In) and Mike Colter (Luke Cage, Evil) supernatural horror thriller Casket Girls from BlacKkKlansman and Get Out producer/investor QC Entertainment, reports ScreenDaily.

UK-based Capture is kicking off international sales in Toronto.

Justin G. Dyck, whose credits include Creepshow and Anything For Jackson, directs the story about a detective and her partner investigating a child’s supernatural encounter who get trapped inside a centuries-old New Orleans church when they accidentally unleash vampires.

Rounding out the key cast are Raúl Castillo, Matt Frewer, and Thomas Lennon.

Coming off the success of Sinners, this feels like the perfect time for Gabrielle Union to battle vampires in New Orleans. It also makes me want to revisit Tales from the Crypt: Bordello of Blood, which has somehow sent me down a whole funeral-home horror rabbit hole, including Tales from the Crypt’s “Undertaking Palor,” with those kids snooping around a murderous undertaker’s business. And, of course, I have to bring up Simon Barrett’s “The Empty Wake,” the funeral-home nightmare we made for V/H/S/94.

Night At The Museum co-writers Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant wrote the screenplay with revisions by Keith Cooper and Justin G. Dyck. Sean McKittrick and Raymond Mansfield are producing for QC Entertainment, with Edward H. Hamm Jr., Jameson Parker, and Union serving as executive producers.
