Summer Has Never Been This ‘Sick’ In Teaser for Coming-of-Age Horror Film Ahead of Fantastic Fest

Summer has never been as Sick as the coming-of-age horror film promises in a new teaser released by Deadline ahead of Fantastic Fest. Based on what I’m seeing, I’m inclined to believe it.

The film “revolves around sixteen-year-old Maks and his older sister Emma, who are sent to the Polish countryside to care for their ailing grandmother. Trapped together in the heavy, stifling isolation of the summer heat, the siblings’ bond begins to shift into something unsettling and difficult to define. As tensions rise and boundaries begin to blur, their grandmother’s frail presence takes on an increasingly disturbing quality, turning a once-idyllic summer into a haunting passage into adulthood.”

Konrad Kąkol, Katarzyna Łubik, Monika Niemczyk, Julian Świeżewski, and Eliza Rycembel.

The film marks the feature directorial debut of Polish director, screenwriter and actress Agata Trzebuchowska.

The teaser below features foreplay with a knife, a woman vomiting some nasty sludge, and more oddities, hinting at a uniquely strange film about the horrors of growing up.

Producers are Patryk Sielecki and Adrianna Rędzia at Lumisenta.

Pluto Film has boarded sales for the film ahead of its world premiere at Fantastic Fest this month.
