Brad Pitt is officially set to return for the ‘World War Z’ sequel, with Edward Berger on board as director!
Big news for World War Z fans, as Deadline reports that Brad Pitt, star of the original film, is set to return in the sequel to the zombie epic!
Additionally, Paramount has tapped Edward Berger to direct, reuniting Pitt with The Riders director.
The 2013 World War Z film was based on Max Brooks‘ bestselling 2006 novel, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Quite different from the movie adaptation, it tells the story of the zombie apocalypse from various perspectives around the world.
Admittedly, I’m not a big fan of the movie. But it did gross more than $540 million worldwide at the box office, so it did something right.
Dennis Kelly will pen the script. At this time, we don’t have any plot details.
As the outlet notes, Pitt has wanted to do this sequel for a long time. He even tried getting David Fincher to direct at one point. Oh, how I wish that would’ve happened.
Still, Berger is no slouch. The filmmaker directed the intense Oscar-winner Conclave, as well as pictures such as All Quiet on the Western Front and a few episodes of the hit series The Terror.
Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner will produce the project on behalf of Plan B Entertainment. Berger will executive produce.
