Paramount has officially set a date with Alexandre Aja’s ‘Crawl’ sequel starring Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd for July 2027!
Just when you thought you were out, Paramount is pulling you back into the water…
We recently reported that Mason Gooding (Heart Eyes, Scream) and Emily Rudd (Fear Street, Whalefall) had been tapped to star in the studio’s Crawl sequel, with Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes remake) returning to direct!
Now, Variety reports that Paramount has scheduled the sequel for a release in theaters on July 16th, 2027!
Aja’s 2019 film followed a woman (Kaya Scodelario) who returns to her family home to save her father after a hurricane hits Florida. Once there, she discovers her dad is trapped by vicious alligators.
Intense and utterly vicious, the film made for a thrilling summer ride, pulling in almost ten times its estimated budget. A sequel was inevitable.
Crawl 2 will see alligators invade the streets and sewers of New York following a nasty hurricane.
Jason Harry Pagan and Andrew Deutschman worked on the script, along with Aja and Gregory Levasseur.
Producers are Craig Flores, Sam Raimi and Aja. Levasseur and Azizi will executive produce.
With that cast and Aja back to direct, plus the New York setting, Crawl 2 is set to be another scary time swimming with alligators…and I can’t wait.
