David Dastmalchian Now Has a Horror Book Club — Nat Cassidy, Tananarive Due and Josh Malerman To Join

David Dastmalchian is a creative who has haunted every corner of horror media. He’s been scaring us to tears since Prisoners and The Dark Knight, and really did his big one in Late Night with the Devil. Along with a guest spot on The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula and The Creep Tapes, Dastmalchian made caskets look comfy in his podcast Grave Conversations. And now the media ghoul is moving into a different lane: Books.

Good Fiend Films is Dastmalchian’s company; it helped produce Late Night and the Boulet Brothers’ Christmas and Halloween specials and currently produces his podcast. Now, Good Fiends has a literature imprint, per a Sept. 22 announcement in The Hollywood Reporter.

“Anyone familiar with me or Good Fiend knows that there is a driving desire behind our work to summon in our audiences that same feeling we felt as kids, hiding under a blanket with a flashlight, nose buried in a transportive or terrifying tale,” Dastmalchian wrote on Instagram, thanking his fellow creatives.

This move builds on the existing publishing legacy of Good Fiend, home to several comics written or co-authored by Dastmalchian, including The Accessories, Kingdom of Earth, Through, Count Crowley, and Knights vs. Samurai.

The Scream King ended his Sep. 22 Instagram post by announcing the first order of business for Good Fiend Lit, which is a book club/author interview series, Buried in Books. In partnership with NYC Comic-Con, Dastmalchian will interview I Know a Place author Nat Cassidy about his new book, When the Wolf Comes Home.
