Jude Law is in talks to join Ari Aster’s mysterious next feature, ‘Scapegoat’, alongside Scarlett Johansson.
Ari Aster may have found a new Scapegoat, as Jude Law (pictured above in Side Effects) is in talks to star in the filmmaker’s next feature alongside Scarlett Johansson (Under the Skin), reports Deadline.
Jacob Elordi (Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein) also joined the cast recently.
Per usual with Aster’s work, the film is blanketed in mystery, without any plot details at this time. The outlet notes, however, that some say “it’s about a doctor who operates on an internet-famous person. Others say it’s sci-fi romance, and some have said it’s more of a traditional drama for Aster.”
Law has a history of starring in sci-fi films and medical thrillers. Aside from Side Effects, you can find him in movies ranging from Soderbergh’s pandemic flick, Contagion, to Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence. So, if Aster is cooking up some sort of sci-fi and/or medical mystery, Law more than fits the bill.
Aster and Lars Knudsen will produce Scapegoat through their Square Peg label.
A24 will distribute the film.
If all goes well, the plan is for Scapegoat to begin shooting later this year.
