Shudder is gearing up for the next installment in the V/H/S franchise with V/H/S/MIXTAPE, streaming exclusively October 9. And we’ve got a brand-new trailer for you to crank up.
There’s all sorts of crazy shit in this one, as you can see below. We’ve got puppets from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, claymation, and all the other fun found-footage insanity you’ve come to expect from the franchise.
This time, music and sound drive the nightmares, with four stories exploring their power to haunt, possess, transform, and destroy. GWAR hosts the whole thing as an MTV-style show from hell, complete with skits and music videos directed by Tobias Forge and Flying Lotus.
Here’s what’s on the tape:
“Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance” — Directed by Renee Zhan: A studio attempts to reboot a long-cancelled puppet show with a mysterious past. Featuring work from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
“Heartbeat” — Directed by David Moreau: Two YouTube urban explorers become trapped inside a decommissioned military facility used for sonic experiments.
“The Music of Mr. Sze” — Directed by Ernest Dickerson: A college film student’s documentary uncovers the secluded life of a tormented musician.
“Death Tone” — Directed by RZA: A young sound engineer follows her late father’s instructions to create the ultimate track.
Before its Shudder debut, V/H/S/MIXTAPE will have its world premiere at Beyond Fest on September 30 at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre, followed by a Q&A with filmmakers and cast.
