Transgender horror novel ‘Carrying’ is getting a feature film adaptation from Good Girl Productions…and it sounds wild.
She’s serving. She’s eating. She’s…
Carrying, the debut horror novel from Samantha Josephs, is set to get a feature adaptation from Tommy Dorfman‘s Good Girl Productions, reports Variety.
Dorfman will handle directing and producing duties, while Josephs will pen the script.
Here’s the official logline: “Martha is trans, so stealth even her family has no idea. She carved the woman she is out of the marble of a boy, and she’ll do whatever it takes to protect what she’s built. When a mysterious chronic illness and its debilitating symptoms threaten to upend her existence, she starts experimental treatments and gives in to her surprising, unsettling cravings. She’s even more shocked to discover that she’s undeniably, impossibly pregnant.”
There’s a whole lot going on in that brief synopsis, setting up for what sounds like a wild horror tale.
Said Josephs, “From our very first meeting, it wasn’t just Tommy’s love for Carrying that got me, but that she completely understood it. For a book that I know is extremely out there, it feels especially touching that she sees it and Martha so completely. As we’ve started working together, Tommy’s vision for my twisted tale has me absolutely giddy for everyone to experience. I know my baby is safe in Tommy’s capable hands.”
Can’t wait to read the novel? Carrying arrives on shelves via Putnam/Penguin Random House on October 6th.
