Fall 2: Deadpoint is now available to own on digital from Lionsgate, bringing the survival sequel home today, October 6. You can find it through digital retailers including Fandango.
Ironically, it’s the second theatrical disappointment hitting digital today alongside A24’s Onslaught. Neither found much of an audience domestically, with Fall 2: Deadpoint opening to just $2.3 million and reaching approximately $5 million in North America.
That’s a shame, because the first Fall is actually fantastic. It takes a simple premise and turns it into an uncomfortable, stomach-churning experience. Unfortunately, our review suggests the sequel struggles to recapture what made it work.
In her two-star review, Ashliene McMenamy praised the performances and vertigo-inducing photography but criticized the predictable storytelling and lack of sustained thrills. She described it as “an exhausting watch despite its 97-minute runtime.”
Directed by Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig (Jigsaw, Predestination), the sequel follows Jax and Luce as a climb across Thailand’s Mount Kwan leaves them stranded thousands of feet above the ground. Harriet Slater (Tarot), Arsema Thomas, and Tom Brittney star, with original Fall writers Jonathan Frank and Scott Mann returning for the screenplay.
If you’re curious, you can judge Deadpoint for yourself at home now. But based on our review, maybe save yourself the rental and watch the first Fall again. That one absolutely delivers.
