We’ve been big fans of Drag since its premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, and now there’s a trailer for the hilarious, dark thriller ahead of its January 29, 2027 theatrical release from Briarcliff Entertainment.
You’ll spot Dread Central calling it “The Shocker of the Year” in the trailer and on the new poster, which is fucking cool as hell. We endorse this movie, and I think it’s going to be one of the biggest surprises to kick off next year.
As I wrote after SXSW, Drag was my favorite film of the festival, anchored by incredible performances from Lizzy Caplan (Cloverfield) and John Stamos. It’s a crowd-pleaser with a painfully simple setup: What happens when you throw out your back in the middle of a robbery?
Lizzy Caplan and Lucy DeVito play sisters with a contentious relationship who decide to rob a rural home in upstate New York. Their plan turns into a nightmare when one of them becomes immobilized on the second floor, leaving the pair scrambling to get out before the homeowner returns.
In his SXSW review, Josh Korngut called the film “brutally funny and startlingly original,” praising Lizzy Caplan’s ability to make the pain feel real while finding the comedy in an increasingly awful situation. His review also gets into the film’s nastier body horror, although I’d suggest leaving yourself a few surprises.

Make sure you see this one in theaters. Laughing with a crowd is always the best medicine, even when the movie is making you wince.
