Universal Monsters Are Getting an All-New Indoor Coaster at Epic Universe!

Dark Universe is expanding. Universal has confirmed that an all-new indoor coaster is coming to its monsters-themed land at Epic Universe, bringing another original Universal Monsters story into the park.

“Universal Epic Universe is preparing for its next thrilling addition: an all-new indoor coaster coming to Dark Universe – immersing guests in an all-new story inspired by the Universal Monsters franchise,” the company announced. “Construction is underway, with an opening planned in the years ahead.”

As BlogMickey has been documenting, construction is taking place behind Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, with permits outlining a three-story building spanning approximately 93,300 square feet. The coaster will become Dark Universe’s third ride, joining Monsters Unchained and the outdoor spinning coaster Curse of the Werewolf.

Monsters Unchained already takes guests into the experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, whose attempt to control the monsters goes horribly wrong when Dracula leads a revolt. Universal’s guide to Dark Universe details the attraction’s encounters with Dracula, the Wolf Man, the Mummy, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and more.

That attraction is a dark ride, with a robotic-arm ride system similar to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. It puts you right up close and personal with these monsters, and the stunning animatronics put what I’d call some of Disney’s lazy recent efforts to shame.
